Jessica has a good job, friends and a delightful fiancé in New York. She is happy, but sees herself as a writer, like her recently passed Aunt Joy, who lived in her childhood town of Donder Lake. Jessica goes home early for Christmas to settle her aunt’s estate, including deciding what to do with the family home overlooking the lake. Her fiancé, Rudy, has an important work project that delays him from going with here. Jessica is excited to share her town’s over-the-top Christmas traditions when he is able to join her closer to the holiday.
Jessica does the emotional work of sorting through her aunt’s belongings. She is helped by her parents, a kind bearded lodger and friends both old and new, including an old almost-boyfriend Chris, and a widower neighbor Gabriel and his precocious daughter Belle who had befriended her aunt. All this work strengthens her dreams, so she tries to convince Rudy to make the move with her. He agrees to consider it.
Sorting through the home, she learns that her aunt is the benefactor of a town community center, a million dollars from finished. Selling the house would cover it, but it’s clear her aunt meant the house for Jessica. She also finds that her aunt was working with a famously reclusive children’s author who has gone missing--two mysteries, could they be linked?
There are no bad people and no bad options. Will Jessica chase her dreams or live a great life in the city with Rudy, and can she discover the fate of the missing writer while completing the new community center?

I'm learning from querying this story that the people who publish these are usually established romance authors who extend their catalog with a Christmas story. Querying this is a long shot. This could be a good candidate for trying out self publishing.
If you are interested in this kind of story, I'm happy to share a beta review link.
